Hi, Its doable. Many companies do the same. Its upto you to check the authenticity of your company. If that is genuine, then there is no harm to reach Bangkok with visa-on-arrival facility. Just apply for the work-permit as they said, and enjoy sightseeing in Bangkok. You are not allowed to work in Thailand without a work permit, but check if they have the arrangement with the immigration deptt. They can facilitate your work till you get your work permit.
